Thanks to the support of Hughes International Clinics and the US Embassy in Colombia, this past May we had a prosthesis brigade at Fundación CIREC in Bogotá. A big group of volunteers and staff from those organizations worked together for a week to achieve one goal: positively affect the lives of 32 landmine survivors.
Get to know some of them...
Darley, our little boy from Sipi, Choco, can continue walking! For consecutive time, Darley participates in this kind of brigade!
Carlos, was working on a farm in Tarazá, Antioquia when he stepped on a landmine that caused the amputation of his left leg. This is the first time since the accident occurred, a year ago, that Carlos can walk by himself!
Roquelina is from Choco and loves to dance "Mapale" (afro Colombian style of dance) but she couldn´t do it because her prosthetic leg was in very bad shape (as pictured). After this brigade, she happily returned home and is ready to party!
