Dear donors,
Our Project Baon feeding program in Tacloban has concluded. It started operating in July 2019 up to February 2019, a total of 8 months. Through your help, we were able to feed 30 kids rice, ulam (a combination of meat and veggies), and fruit three times a week. Aside from the meal, in October 2019 we were also able to nourish their bodies more through the help of a chocolate company that provided a glass of milk for the kids every feeding day.
Thank you for your support, donors. Though Project Baon in Trento may have ended we still have other feeding stations that you may consider supporting.
We hope you and your family are safe during this pandemic. Stay safe!
Our Tacloban feeding station continues to feed 30 kids healthy meals three times a week. Starting in October of this year, we began serving milk with our meals. This became possible when a chocolate company provided milk for all our beneficiaries.
Starting the end of November we adjusted our time of feeding. From preparing the meals early in the morning so that the kids can pick up their food at our station before they go to school, we now serve them dinner on Thursdays and Fridays. On Saturdays, we serve them lunch.
Our coordinator decided to change the feeding schedule because she wants to make sure that the kids really finish their meals. Also, this way she can also build a deeper relationship with the kids as she can join them at mealtime, unlike when they ate at school.
Please continue to support this cause and help us feed these kids.
Our Tacloban Feeding Program started on July 2 of this year. Thank you so much for your support!
Wheng, our feeding coordinator has been waking up at 3:30 am in the morning every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to prepare school meals for 30 kids. Some youth volunteers will come at about two hours later to help her pack the baon (packed school lunch). By six am, Wheng and one of the youth volunteers will go to the kids' community and distribute the baon before the kids go to school. These meals are composed of nutritious meat and veggie dishes that Filipinos call ulam, fortified rice, and fruit.
Not only does this feeding program provide these kids with healthy meals but it also becomes a way for us to build relationships with these kids and teach them good values. Wheng taught the kids how to be responsible by instructing them to wash their lunchboxes before they return it for their next meal.
This 3-days-a-week feeding program will run for 3 months. We will bring you the kids' progress in weight and more in our next report. Thank you for your support.
We were not able to conduct any summer meals (April and May) for Tacloban City but our volunteers went house and location visits to check the kids that are included in the program. The kids are happy to see them as they have built relationship with our volunteers there.
In July, Tacloban will start #ProjectBaon to a new group of kids. Rowena Abarabar, our coordinator from Tacloban had prepared all the materials she will be needing for these 30 children and that includes new lunchboxes, she is also excited to get started.
Thank you for your support to our #PrjectBaon in Tacloban City, we will keep you posted!
