Over the past period, our team successfully reached more than 3,000 adolescent girls across 10 public secondary schools.
Unlike students in private institutions, girls attending public schools face significant barriers to accessing basic education on sexual and reproductive healthcare, as well as essential sanitary aids. For many of these young women, open discussions surrounding menstrual hygiene, bodily autonomy, and reproductive wellness are virtually non-existent at home or within standard school curricula.
This educational gap is further compounded by socioeconomic realities. The majority of the girls we serve come from low-income households where families are forced to prioritize basic necessities like food and shelter over menstrual hygiene products and medical care. Consequently, many girls experience "period poverty"—frequently missing school during their cycles due to a lack of affordable sanitary supplies, embarrassment, or fear of stigma. This cycle of missing school directly compromises their academic performance and long-term economic potential.
Through our interactive workshops and distribution of educational resources and sanitary kits, we are bridging this vital gap. We provide these young women not only with the physical tools they need to stay in school safely and comfortably, but also with the knowledge, dignity, and confidence required to make informed choices about their health and futures.
