This project is aimed at taking reproductive health to its grassroot meaning educating 5000 young Nigerian girls from ages 9-17 on reproductive health as well as making them aware of their reproductive rights and sensitizing Women in the community on contraceptives and family planning methods as well as sexually transmitted infections and other diseases. We intend to enhance the quality of life for these young girls and women by providing them with resources to help them.
A girl child in Nigeria is expected to accept whatever is thrown at her. Hence, she faces issues and problems she thinks is a norm because she is female. Wrong practices such as sexual abuse, early marriage, female genital Mutilation and lack of (reproductive health) education have therefore put many girl children in harms way reproductively .This has resulted to teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections/diseases and maternal mortality.
The solution here is to actively educate and inform girls about the importance of good reproductive health by going to their schools to facilitate talks With them, helping them know their body, helping them get aware of their rights, making sure they have all the resources to maintain a clean bill of health. This is what we do.
With the full support of the Ministry of education and ministry of health in our locality including us in the school curriculum and participating in community health centers , we intend for our visits to all schools and local health centers to be regular in our region. This way, we are close to every girl and woman rendering our support to them
