The recurring wars in Eastern DR Congo have caused the massive displacement of women and girls, leaving them in a state of poverty that forces them to seek domestic work in households where they are exposed to various forms of violations, including economic exploitation, because they are unaware of their economic rights.
This project will contribute to strengthening women's economic empowerment in Eastern DR Congo, improving their income and living conditions, while promoting greater gender equality and increased participation of women in local economic development.
The project will strengthen the economic capacities of women and girls employed as domestic workers in households in order to reduce poverty and promote gender equality. These women who are victims of economic exploitation will be organized into income-generating activities to support one another and improve their living conditions.
