Tender Grassroots will run a health center, complete with diagnostic lab and pharmacy to serve over 30,000 people in Kitubulu and surrounding communities in Kabale, Wasiko, Uganda. The clinic will significantly improve access to health care as the only affordable and comprehensive primary care center in the region. The clinic will respond to population needs and disease burdens, and focus first on prenatal care, health prevention and management for chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension
In March 2021, TGR held a health fair in Kitubulu, serving a 15 mile area, and over 1,000 people arrived. We provided Covid-19 testing and vaccination, Hep-B vaccination, health and wellness screening, treatment for acute illnesses like malaria, basic primary care for diabetes and high blood pressure, and health education. We could not meet the entire demand indicating a clear need and desire for services. Health fair data indicated hypertension and diabetes are major issues in our community.
TGR established a Community Health Center to address the gap in care. While this is a meaningful stopgap, a fully functional primary care clinic, with a lab and pharmacy is needed urgently. We will build the only affordable and accessible local clinic and provide comprehensive primary care, including screening, diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute illnesses, immunization, health education, and antenatal and postpartum ca
We will serve 10,000 people, both those who visit the clinic and others who may face barriers accessing the clinic through community outreach via 'Health Fair' days. As access to care increases we anticipate improving health outcomes, specifically reducing the prevalence of chronic conditions by up to 10% in the next five years and decreasing maternal mortality, leading to a healthier population in Kitubulu. Improve immunization and immunization bias in the community
