Children in the Chaughare area, home to 21 villages and 485 households, face significant risks. Among the 800 children under 16, many are affected by the 2015 earthquake that devastated all households. Ongoing poverty and geographical challenges have forced families into a cycle of hardship, leading children to drop out of school and migrate to urban areas for unsuitable jobs. Console Mission's initial survey highlights the urgent need to address these issues.
"Education should be a child's priority. Without it, they face risks like trafficking, child marriage, and labor. Kabita, a 12-year-old, lacked motivation in school, leading her parents to send her to work for income. Many children like her face similar vulnerabilities without proper support.
Kabita's journey illustrates the power of education. With new opportunities, she developed self-learning skills, managed her time well, and mentored younger children. Village-based coaching classes fostered connections, boosted learning interest, and encouraged school attendance, while activities like games and art created a supportive environment.
This initiative aims to help 180 children complete their schooling while also raising awareness among illiterate adults about the importance of education for their children. With local government support, it is expected to expand to several villages, positively impacting the entire region. Given the strong network between government and public schools, the program has the potential to spread nationwide.
