On March 8th, International Women´s Day, Proeducación seized the opportunity for schools to reflect and act towards gender based violence in public elementary and middle schools. This brings us to a moment where we should recognise that a healthy, substance free coexistence in public schools and at home is essential to promote respect towards women and girls in our communities.
A healthy school environment is essential to prevent any form of violence, including gender based violence. So celbrating March 8th PROEDUCACION joined forces with some important allies, who impart gender equity, violence prevention and substance abuse prevention courses to give 10 workshops in our Mexico City public elementary and middle schools with the finality of underlining the importance of creating a school environment where girls will learn with no fear of being bullied and boys will construct healthy masculine models based on respect, empathy and equality towards girls at school and at home. This with the purpose of creating a more just and peaceful society.
In Proeducacion we know we must mix programs to achieve a major result, this brought us to create this set of conferences where we mixed our Human Development Programs to create a very interesting mix of Prevention and Substance Abuse programs with Violence prevention programs, communication enhancements programs and self esteem booster programs to celbrate the women in our school communities (teachers, mothers and students).
