Vaccinate Children and Prevent NINE Diseases

We are continuing to administer vaccines to children in the Ouelessebougou reigon. Our field director, Djiba, is working on collecting more demographic data to expand the reach of the vaccination program, especially to pregnant women. Getting vaccinations to pregnant women and children is essentail because they are more at risk for contracting diseases that could turn fatal. March is typically the month when vaccinations are distributed, and we collect the data for them in April. Our field director and his team are hard at work at distributing the vaccines and collecting the data.

Vaccinations continue to be a life-saving resource for hundreds of Malians in Ouelessebougou and the surrounding areas. When the practitioners come into the villages to administer the immunizations, women line up to have their babies and older children vaccinated. Most women have had a child or know of a child that has passed away due to preventable diseases so they are very grateful for these life-saving shots.

Many have asked if there are COVID vaccinations available to Malians. The answer is yes, in the larger cities. COVID vaccines have been distributed where people are in contact with one another more frequently and this seems to be effective as Africa's COVID rate remains low. Many of our villages receive very few visitors so they have also been able to avoid the virus. 

We will continue to fight to keep vaccinations readily available to our villagers, especially pregnant women and children. With your help, we will continue to save hundreds of lives in the villages surrounding Ouelessebougou. Thank you
