Fighting between armed groups has driven thousands of people from their villages in Eastern, Central, and Western Equatoria states since the start of January. Several thousand had taken refuge in Uganda.
The Relief Agencies are increasingly concerned at recent growing uncertainty around South Sudan and its serious impact on the civilian population.
UNHCR alerted that localised fighting between rebel armed groups and government soldiers and an apparent breakdown in law and order are being reported in and near Yambio, some 300 kilometres west of Juba.
Sporadic gunfire is commonplace, and there has also been an increase in crime involving car-jackings, attacks on government property, looting of civilian homes and sexual assaults,"
AT THIS FIRST REPORTING I 2017:
Funds from different sources and your money had help purchased the clinic needed materials. Due to growing insecurity and clashes in Magwi County between armed rebel groups and government forces, we are not able to transport the goods to Omilling. We are doing everything we can to make sure the clinic is supplied with new stock when security improves. Your money purchased four boxes mat and six cotton wool. Also, the project provided funding for a woman to travel to Uganda from South Sudan for complicated pregnancy check.
In a next quarter, we will be sending you again a new field update report, to let you know the impact of your contributions.
