Garcia Family

Meet a new family

We are currently working with them through the Family Care Program.  Mrs. A., Mr. P. and their four sons: Y., G., M. and P. are the members of this family.

They live in Iztapalapa, a nieghborhood on the eastern side of the Mexico City. Their home is very small, with just enough room for a bed, a table and an electric grill for cooking.

A. is a very young mother and is 32 years old.  She sells second hand clothes and sometimes works as a cleaning lady. Alma presents depression symptoms, that make difficult for her to be an authority for her kids; however she is working hard to develop parenthood skills.

P. is 44 years old and is a construction worker. He shows a caring attitude to his kids and a proactive interest to contribute to improve his family life conditions.

Y., thier oldest son, is 11 years old. He is a very likable and friendly boy. He is in fourth grade in primary school and works on the weekends at a food vendor’s stand to contribute to family expenses. He likes playing soccer and videogames.

G. is 8 years old. He is a sweet, happy and creative child. At present he is also in third grade, but has many learning difficulties.

M. is 6 years old. He is a very happy child. He likes playing with small toy cars and has told us that he would like to have butterflies because they can fly and go wherever they want. Michel just entered primary school.

The smallest child in the family is P., who is 3 years old. Unfortunately, he does not have everything he needs for his development, which has had an impact on his lack of stimulation for learning to talk.

This is the family. During the month of December we will continue to tell you more about their situation and the work they are doing, with the help of Pro Niños, to improve their living conditions and build a safe space for the children.  This will reduce the possibility of them leaving home and going to live on the streets.
