"Little Themba stares blankly into the distance…his body language screams out for help. Instead of attending a school that is safe and where play and learning can take place, he now spends his days sitting on a sidewalk through all kinds of weather, while his mother sells packets of sweets and single cigarettes.
She barely makes enough money to feed them.
School is out of the question."
This is not Themba's story any more ...
He now attends preschool at our JM Early Childhood Development Centre in Yeoville. This area is notorius for drugs, voilence, poverty and prostitution; but thanks to donors like YOU - Themba is in a safe enviroment where he can learn and grow.
Sometimes he still feels alone, scarred and sad - but our amazing teachers, like Sandile; observes all the children on the playground and steps in to make them feel safe!
There are still many more children with sad stories, just like Themba's ... will you be their HERO please?
