JM Early Childhood Development Centre is situated in Observatory, an area that is notorious for drugs, crime, prostitution and unemployment. This is a reality for children who live in the area. The JM Early Childhood Development Centre (ECDC) in Observatory offers another dimension for 100 children to experience love, learning and development in their lives.
Poverty is prevalent in the community and Johanna Malan ECDC understands that circumstances are tough for many families that is why we provide bursaries to subsidise the school fees for some of the parents this naturally depends on the availability of funds. Although we believe that finances should not be a reason to deprive any child of education.
The impact of Johanna Malan ECDC can be measured by the educational foundation that each child acquires; we provide a safe, friendly and healthy environment where active learning is facilitated. The development is not only focused on the children, but we also impact those who are directly involved with them by empowering staff and parents through training, developing team work and involvement in the Early Childhood Centre.
Breaking the cycle of poverty. Addressing social injustices and access to needed services. Every child deserves the right to education.
