Earthquake Zone-1
Earthquake Zone-1

Following the 2023 Kahramanmaras earthquakes, children became one of the groups most severely affected by the disaster; the disruption of their safe spaces and routines posed significant risks to their social development. In line with TEGV’s mission, a rapid, coordinated, and sustainable response was launched to support children’s education, play, and emotional well-being during this period. The interventions carried out immediately after the earthquake can be grouped under three main headings:
Support for basic needs: Collaboration with volunteers and other NGOs was established to meet basic needs such as shelter, hygiene, food, and transportation.
Creation of child-friendly spaces: Activities and appropriate educational environments were established in disaster-affected areas where children could spend time safely, play, and mitigate the negative effects of the disaster.
Coordination and volunteer support: TEGV coordination teams quickly reached the region to provide logistical support and ensure the proper deployment of volunteers on the ground.

In the short and long term, efforts are being made to address the growing educational inequality in the region through the free, high-quality educational support provided by TEGV.

TEGV continues its activities in the earthquake-affected region without interruption.

As long as families continue to live in the container cities, TEGV will continue its activities there to reach the children directly.

The Fireflies are still continuing their educational activities in the schoolyards of the earthquake-affected region. All of this is made possible by the support of our donors and volunteers.

We extend our gratitude.
