We are now working to meet the immediate needs of survivors in the earthquake zone. We are providing shelter, hygiene support, and psychosocial activities for our children and their families in Sanlurfa and Adana and our 7 mobile education trucks (Fireflies) in the region. We have also taken steps to deploy our 17-vehicle fleet from other provinces. We are planning post-traumatic psychosocial support activities for children, parents, teachers, and volunteers at our activity points and schools.
After the devastating earthquakes that struck the Southeastern Turkey on February 6th, causing extensive damage and causalities. Earthquake survivors suffered a great trauma. Psycho-social support should be provided to earthquake victims in order to prevent bigger problems.
In line with our protocol with the Ministry of Education, we are planning post-traumatic psychosocial support activities at our activity points and schools in the area. We will: Carry out play-based psychosocial support activities for children Provide academic support to help children suffering from post-traumatic psychological problems Organize group sessions to give psychosocial education to parents and teachers Conduct psychosocial training and self-care sessions for our volunteers
We will implement the psychosocial support system in all cities in the region. We will prevent bigger problems and create a positive impact on earthquake victims.
