This project plans to empower 300 poorest, vulnerable and low performing students of chisiyo primary school in Malawi by offering a learning support program, sexual and reproductive health talks, school uniforms and learning materials.
In Malawi, 65% of students do not complete primary school education due to low learning materials, low teaching quality, early pregnancies and poverty. Students donot afford to purchase school uniforms and Adolescent girls miss classes because they do not afford to purchase sanitary napkins. The teacher to student ratio is 1:130, the overcrowding of classrooms deprive students to receiving one-on-one feedback. This project will reachout to 300 students that are affected by these problems.
TOH will provide school uniforms, learning materials and a learning support program within the school ground to assist low performing students. We will also offer Sexual & Reproductive Health talks to prevent early pregnancies and HIV/AIDS as well as offer lessons on making reusable sanitary napkins. This way school dropout rates will be reduced and these students will earn the skills they need to help themselves out of poverty thereby transforming their lives and the communities they live in.
This project will educate and keep 300 primary students in school. This will help them rise their families and communities out of poverty. Educated students will act as role models and benefit their communities. Malawi has the 8th highest child marriage rate in the world by teaching the students sexual and reproductive health, we will reduce this rate as well as the risk of contacting HIV and AIDS.
