Over the past reporting period, the 400 children supported through BREADS’ evening learning and activity centres have continued to attend school and participate in supplementary educational activities, despite the ongoing challenges faced by families living in vulnerable settlements.
Although no new funding was received through GlobalGiving during this period, BREADS has continued supporting the children through other available resources, ensuring that the learning centres remain accessible to them and that their educational needs continue to receive attention.
The children have been attending their formal schools and have recently completed their mid-term examinations. The centres continue to provide them with a safe and supportive environment where they can receive help with their studies, strengthen foundational learning, and receive encouragement to remain in school.
For many of these children, whose parents are engaged in daily-wage labour or other insecure livelihoods, continued educational support is important in helping them stay connected to their schooling and build confidence in their ability to learn and progress.
The learning centres remain more than spaces for academic support. Children have opportunities to participate in recreational and group activities, develop life skills, and learn about their rights and responsibilities. These activities help create a positive environment where children can learn, interact with their peers and develop holistically.
BREADS remains committed to ensuring that children from vulnerable communities are able to continue their education and have the opportunity to build a better future. Continued support will help sustain the learning centres, strengthen educational assistance and provide children with the resources and encouragement they need to remain in school.
