A Story of Hope: Transforming Lives in Kafr Karmin
At Salam Humanitarian Foundation, every story we encounter reminds us why we are here: to make a difference. Today, we want to share a story that highlights the resilience of the human spirit and the power of your support.
Meet the Qoja Family
In the heart of Kafr Karmin’s Al-Dweirat camp resides the Qoja family, originally from Khan Al-Asal in Aleppo. Their lives were forever changed by the war. Once a thriving family with dreams and ambitions, the sisters—one a schoolteacher and the other a law student—suffered severe neurological damage from an airstrike, losing their ability to move and speak. Their brother, living with an intellectual disability, is unable to leave the home. The eldest sister, despite facing her own speech impairment, assumed the role of caregiver for her siblings, but the family had no stable income, relying on the kindness of neighbors for survival.
How We Helped
Our team discovered the Qoja family during a routine outreach visit as part of our efforts to introduce the Rabet Center and its services to vulnerable families in Kafr Karmin. The Rabet Center focuses on providing psychosocial support, skill development, and educational programs for both caregivers and children. Recognizing the urgency of their situation, our Emergency Response Team immediately stepped in to assist the family.
Steps Taken:
The Impact
Thanks to the intervention, the Qoja family’s living conditions have drastically improved. They now reside in a clean, well-equipped home that meets their basic needs, offering them a fresh start and newfound stability.
The eldest sister expressed her heartfelt gratitude, saying:
"I can’t thank Salam Humanitarian Foundation enough. You’ve given us not just a home but a chance to rebuild our lives."
Why It Matters
This story is a testament to the life-changing impact of your donations. Together, we’ve helped the Qoja family overcome incredible odds, restoring their dignity and giving them hope for a better future. But there are many more families like the Qoja family who need our support.
What’s Next?
With your continued generosity, we can reach even more families in need. Your support allows us to extend our psychosocial and emergency assistance programs to ensure no one is left behind.
Thank you for making stories like this possible. Together, we are building a future of hope and resilience.
