Title: Growing a Greener Pakistan – Plantation Drives Across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Summary

Alkhidmat Foundation organized plantation drives across multiple districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, planting 1,000 new saplings as part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability. Since March 2023, Alkhidmat has planted over 1.8 million trees nationwide, moving toward its goal of 10 million trees by 2028.

Story / Update

Environmental degradation and deforestation have become critical issues in Pakistan, leading to floods, soil erosion, and rising temperatures. Recognizing the urgent need for action, Alkhidmat Foundation launched a large-scale plantation campaign to restore green cover and promote eco-awareness among communities.

Recently, Alkhidmat volunteers organized plantation drives across different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 1,000 trees were planted in schools, community parks, and flood-affected areas. More than 50 volunteers, including female participants, actively took part, symbolizing unity and collective responsibility for a cleaner, greener Pakistan.

This initiative is part of Alkhidmat’s broader environmental vision — to plant 10 million trees by 2028, reducing carbon emissions and fostering climate resilience for future generations.

Beneficiaries

  • Direct Impact: Local communities benefiting from new green spaces and improved air quality.

  • Indirect Impact: Environmental sustainability and climate resilience across the region.

Impact

  • Contributed to Pakistan’s national tree plantation and climate goals.

  • Increased environmental awareness and youth participation.

  • Promoted gender inclusion in volunteer-led sustainability initiatives.

Next Steps

Alkhidmat will continue organizing plantation drives in urban and rural areas across Pakistan, expanding volunteer engagement and partnering with local institutions to ensure the long-term care and growth of planted trees.
