Summary

Pay rural communities in Togo to plant 50,000 trees (15 species) in schools to restore ecosystems, fight hunger, and enhance child education. Habitat Education & Promotion has provided 4,000+ students with school supplies, boosting success in 24 elementary schools. Building on 9,000+ trees already planted, we aim to expand to 50,000, offering shade, enriching soil, and capturing 50,000 tons of CO2. Plant trees with us to fight climate change while enhancing child education.

Challenge

Deforestation, soil erosion, and biodiversity loss have created severe challenges for rural communities, decreasing agricultural productivity and making it harder for families to grow food. For schools, the absence of trees turns playgrounds into sunbaked areas, limiting outdoor activities and exposing children to harmful UV rays. These kids miss out on fresh air, shade, and the natural beauty that supports their well-being. Schools also lose the chance to reduce pollution and absorb carbon.

Solution

We have partnered with 24 schools in Togo to plant 50,000 trees, with over 9,000 trees already in the ground. Our initiative not only shields schools from extreme weather but also boosts the social, environmental, and economic well-being of local communities. The fruit trees we're planting help fight hunger in schools and beyond. Our projects also create local jobs, and we work closely with farming groups, empowering them to plant trees on their own land for long-term sustainability.

Long-Term Impact

Tree planting in schools has a lasting impact, it promotes environmental stewardship, improves health, and the local economies. As trees grow, they provide shade, reduce pollution, and cool the environment, creating healthier spaces for children. The trees also produce fruit to help combat hunger. In 15-20 years, tree plantations will fund educational infrastructure and vital community projects. The carbon offset will extend beyond the schools, benefiting the broader area and future generations.
