Dear Friend,
On this Environment Day, your support helped bring people together to protect nature in Southern Rajasthan.
This Environment Day, Seva Mandir celebrated with children and communities in 67 villages across 3 districts. It wasn’t just a celebration, it became a movement.
Children led colourful rallies, participated in drawing competitions, and raised powerful slogans, ones they had written themselves — on solid waste management and environmental protection. Their messages were loud and clear:
“Don’t throw garbage in drains or on roads. Plant more trees. Let’s make our villages plastic-free.”
Inspired by this youthful energy, entire communities stepped forward to take action. Roads and drains were cleaned through Shramdaan ((voluntary collective labour), as villagers rolled up their sleeves and worked side-by-side to make their surroundings cleaner and healthier.
And it didn’t stop there.
From 5th to 20th June, over 2,600 rural and peri-urban residents came together to talk, share, and act. We engaged in meaningful conversations about protecting our commons - forests, grazing lands, water bodies — and explored practical ways to manage waste and regenerate nature.
Families pledged to plant a tree in their own backyards. Others helped repair fences, build micro-basins, plant vegetative cuttings, and conserve soil and water — each act a small but significant step towards lasting environmental change.
We were proud to showcase these efforts at an event organised by the Rajasthan Pollution Control Board in Udaipur, in alignment with this year’s global theme: ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’. Our exhibition on natural resource management highlighted what’s possible when communities lead the way.
None of this would have been possible without you.
Your support allowed us to reach these villages, inspire young minds, and ignite action. Every tree planted, every drain cleaned, every slogan shouted — is part of a healthier, greener future we’re building together.
The Earth gives us everything. This Environment Day, we gave back — thanks to you.
With Regards,
Team Seva Mandir
