help build a school to educate 20 blind students

Divya jyothi charitable trust was started in the year of 2010 and we have trained more than 120 blind students by providing them computer education and we have also provided text books in Braille script for more than 4800 students across Karnataka.  Blind children are usually separated from rest of the children but here we mould them that not to depend on any one and to stand on their feet and get a good job with proper computer education. Many of the students come from many parts of Karnataka and to accommodate them and to give food we need a hostel which can accommodate at least 100 students. Currently we are running the  hostel come training centre, and hostel in two separate rented premises, separated by about 16 km. The training centre also houses our Braille transcription and printing centre and Braille library.  We are providing food, education and books to students with the help of donors. We want to enhance our capacity and train many more students and help them to lead a better life. Our main purpose is to HELP THE BLIND TO SEE THE LIGHT OF TOMORROW

The organization main goal is to expand the organization and help more than 100,000 visually impaired students by 2020 and help them to see the light of tomorrow and help them to have better life. In order to do this we need funding and volunteer service from the society. We strive to success and we hope that one day we will have our own building which will be having Auditorium which can accommodate 250-300 students and 15 class rooms with advanced technology equipment’s to make the learning of visually impaired simpler and 2 Dormitory hall which will accommodate more than 100 students in one hall for sleeping and waste management recycling storage room since we care about our environment and surrounding we recycle the waste and use it for other purposes, residential school for visually impaired, computer lab, dining hall, braille library, gym, yoga classes, training center and the whole building will be provided with Centralised air conditioner.

Currently we have neither funding nor resources for the construction of building currently but that doesn’t mean we will stop trying. We will try again and again because the happiness what you see when blind student touch and feel the computer, Braille books, practicing yoga and GYM for first time is priceless. We need societies help because without them there will always be darkness covered in the life of visually impaired.

Objectives of this project :

Enabling the visually challenged person to get job, to stand on their feet, to lead comfortable life; to build confidence in them and also provide accommodation facility and take care of them until they settle in their profile.

• Accommodating more than 100 students once a year.
• Starting with the keyboard skills, all required basic computer skills will be imparted to the visually challenged;
• Training is from the SKILLED instructors
• Providing hygienic bathrooms.
• Providing healthy and food every day.
• We are providing GYM facilities to keep the students healthy through exercise.
• Providing pick and drop service for students who are attending school and colleges.
• Imparting all round training on various computer applications/software (such as MS office, internet browsing etc.) with the help of special software like JAWS (Job Access with Speech - to read electronic texts on screen), KURZWEIL (for reading printed text), MAGIC (to magnify the text to help a person who is partially blind to read), blind students are definitely going to be benefitted.
• In the past also, we have witnessed the people getting selected for jobs based on our training and this will definitely help them.

Direct Beneficiaries (target group)

• Students are of the age group 16 – 35 visually impaired.
• Basically blind people from all districts of Karnataka. As we improve, we plan to extend our services to students from other states of India.
• Targeted beneficiaries are mostly from the socially, economically, educationally backward persons. They are unable to get similar training elsewhere because of their special difficulties.

Expected beneficiaries will be around 100 students per year.

Expected Impacts/  Effects

•           Number of students joined on the year visually impaired persons will be benefited by the IT Skills training.

•           They will get jobs

•           Become economically independent

•           Become more confident and contribute to growth of the society & nation.

•           Personally also they will be able to get more skills through web once they get IT skills as each and everything is available on the web to enhance one’s career.

Search for jobs on themselves

•           Computers/Peripherals can be used for a number of years later also.

Sustainability of the Project

The Trust will appoint qualified and experienced managers to oversee the enhanced operation of the Trust. The Trust has obtained approvals from the Government under sections 12A and 80 G of the Income Tax and Foreign donations are also covered under FCRA. With the support of these documents we can get funding from all companies CSR activities and we have fund raiser with the support of them will collect money from local community and well-wishers. Both operationally and financially the society will continue to get benefits from the activities of the Trust.
