Disaster Risk Reduction Project Consultation with the local officials of Lian, Batangas (March 21, 2011)
Another courtesy call, this time with the municipality of Lian, Batangas was conducted by the Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) of the De La Salle University last 21 March 2011. Headed by Ms. Maria Isabel B. Lanada Project Technical Facilitator, the team met with the barangay officials from the said municipality and provided them with a brief orientation on the concept of DRR. Residents from the barangays of San Diego and Bungahan were also on hand and expressed their willingness to support and cooperate for the project.
Essentially, the barangay council and the project team have agreed to systematically implement the planned activities under the Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) project. They would be focusing on disaster planning and management and the allocation of a percentage of their local disaster risk reduction management fund to finance disaster preparedness activities.
DRR trainings for the mentioned barangays were immediately scheduled following the said orientation.
