Thank you for your generous donation. Your contribution to the Philippines Earthquake Relief Fund is already making a crucial difference in the lives of those affected across Cebu by the recent devastating earthquake.

Our local nonprofit partners are responding swiftly to deliver critical resources to impacted communities. Thanks to your support, we’ve been able to match their momentum by rapidly getting funding to where it's needed most, providing access to clean water, food, and shelter in the critical aftermath of the earthquake.

GlobalGiving has already issued emergency grants to the following vetted, local partners in our nonprofit network:

  • Centre for Disaster Preparedness Foundation (CDP Philippines) is a national organization in the Philippines that creates community-based systems for disaster response, risk reduction, and management. Through its own trusted network of community leaders and groups, CDP is currently providing immediate relief in the most affected municipalities of Bogo, Medellin, San Remigio, Tabogon, and Tabuelan. Its response includes distributing food and non-food relief items, offering mental health support, affected residents and first responders, and supporting survivor-led initiatives.
  • Sibol ng Agham at Teknolohiya (SIBAT) has been building self-reliant communities in the Philippines to withstand the impacts of climate change since its origins in 1984. SIBAT prioritizes the needs of farmers, women, and Indigenous peoples, and is currently providing immediate relief and assistance to community members who are still without shelter.
  • The Bicycle Scouts Project is a national organization in the Philippines that empowers community leaders to build resilience using bicycles and community-driven technology for emergency communication. Founded during Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, Bike Scouts began as a volunteer bicycle messenger service for neighbors to use to communicate before, during, and after disasters.  The organization is currently responding to the earthquake by gathering essential supplies, setting up clean water supply hubs, and organizing volunteer bicycle messenger riding teams to support affected communities who live in remote areas.
  • Las Piñas Persons with Disability Federation serves people with disabilities across the Philippines so they can access education, therapy, and support services, as well as basic sanitary and health needs. After the earthquake, the organization is working closely with its trusted network of partners near the epicenter of the earthquake to provide food, clean water, and shelter.

As our dedicated local partners continue to lead community-driven recovery efforts, the needs and work remain significant. We’ll continue to share their stories with you in coming weeks and months. Thank you for your solidarity during this critical time.

With immense gratitude,

Heather + GlobalGiving Team

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
