We began in a small rented facility with four staff and six faculty members after going through all necessary accreditation processes to run two year degree programs in: Business Administration, Banking Technology and Accounting and Computerized Accounting. On October 8, 2016 Palm Institute held its first graduation and awarded its first degrees to 19 graduating students (see more here). Since 2014, over forty students have received financial aid totalling $98,000 through the support of NAPE Foundation. Additionally, in 2016 Palm received approval to offer two additional two-year degree programs in: Agribusiness and Finance and Procurement and Materials Management. Palm Institute maintains and applies the liberal arts approach to teaching and learning and a strong focus on Ghanaian and African grounded values and ethics in order to facilitate the process of raising a generation of leaders who will assist in identifying short and long term business solutions to the many challenges of our country and the African continent.
Currently, we have 64 committed and dedicated students enrolled in all our programs. Pursuant to the regulations of the National Accreditation Board (NAB), Ghana, we have to relocate to a more suitable campus in order to receive accreditation to offer higher degree (3&4-year) programs. This follows our authorization from the same accreditation body which will expire in two years’ time. Notwithstanding, our current campus is a rented facility with high monthly rent advances which impacts heavily on our limited financial resources. Therefore, a building that meets the standards of the NAB would lead to final accreditation which will enable us realize our vision of running higher degree programs.
Building the Future Together
Our goal is to build the first phase of a permanent campus East of Accra. This building would include ten lecture halls, five administrative offices, a computer lab and library, a cafeteria and a multipurpose hall (See more here). The land upon which this facility would be constructed has already been secured and the building itself can be constructed for $150,000. Thanks to Board Members, donors and friends in the U.S, we have been able to raise $11,000 cash so far. There are also individuals who have pledged to make a donation periodically.
Please consider joining us in this great opportunity to improve lives through quality higher education. Your donation can help us purchase one or more of the following building materials to complete the construction of our permanent campus in one year (May, 2017 through May, 2018).You can please make a one-time donation or spread payment across a one year period.
