PEP works to empower the marginalized rural communities of Sindh. From providing sustainable quality education in villages, to providing extensive training and opening opportunities such as, E-learning, Adult Literacy Centers and small businesses, PEP ensures that each community would be able to reach their highest potential and become purposeful and valuable members for their society. During 2016 PEP supported 7177 direct beneficiaries and 23447 indirect beneficiaries.
When there is a lack of accessibility of quality schools, children suffer, and girls are more deprived of this opportunity because of the cultural pressures that don't allow girls to go to school. Only 35% of children in rural Sindh have ever been in a classroom. Moreover, due to poverty and unawareness, parents rather send their children to work in the fields which is the sole way of making ends meet. This adds to drop rate in literacy and cause communities to lose ability to develop.
PEP focuses on female and minority enrollment to serve this neglected population by providing schools in their own villages with baselines for girls' enrollment. Our unique teaching methodology focuses on developing a child's confidence and ability to incur change in their own life as well as their community. E-learning is the most recent programme for PEP students to develop a better IQ, and raising their aptitude. Furthermore, women are especially being empowered through Adult Literacy Centers
PEP has been working in rural Sindh since 2002 and has achieved long term sustainability for its schools. The communities have seen great changes in over the years through many effective programmes such as: Women Empowerment Programme, Teacher training programme, Aflatoun and Aflateen programme, and Sanitation programme as a result leading communities to become empowered. Moreover, PEP schools have a 73% enrollment having both girls and boys, and have recently established new girl schools.
