From Isolation to Integration through Innovation

Innovation can only truly happen when you have time to listen carefully to the people who need it most.  Your donation gives us the chance to listen to those living with burns and scars to create an innovative solution to their challenges.  There are many challenges; isolation, confusing advice, self-loathing.  The pioneering project will integrate an online forum into our other life-changing services.

What we've learned is that taking a brave and innovative path can be unpredictable.  So getting the online forum just right - safe, accessible, helpful... has been a longer journey than we'd hoped.

So what we can't celebrate with you just yet, is a fully functioning online forum.  Continued hurdles with security and techy problems, frustrating as they are, lead us to finding wonderful support from a field expert who is resolving them.

What we can celebrate is a fantastic group event that took place on 11th February for 25 people with burns and scars. This reduced the sense of isolation by continuing to build a burns community, swapping supportive advice and listening to talks on personal development.  This was organised by a burn survivor whose passion encouraged maximum support ranging from Katie the founder to people volunteering to keep the tea coming thick and fast!  The opportunity was taken to update attendees on the forum’s progress as well as gathering further inspiration from them on what will make the forum have the best impact when it is fully up and running.

For now, good old fashioned face to face support is continuing to help burn survivors to flourish. Soon, the online forum will be integrated into the lives of people who have suffered the most traumatic of experiences. Thank you for relieving their isolation through innovation.
