In the first week of February our volunteers were able to log on to the Forum and try it out for the first time.
Over the following weeks some great posts were made by forum users, with people introducing themselves, sharing tips and asking questions.
This testing period also gave moderators a chance to practise and become confident with approving users, reporting posts and merging conversation topics.
Beth, one of our volunteers, shared the following feedback:
“The forum looks great and has been professionally designed to make it user-friendly and intuitive to use. It is clear that a lot of thought has been put into providing a dedicated online community which survivors have been requesting for some time. I am looking forward to sharing my experience and learning from others. I’m sure it will fast become an essential resource for people with burns and scars. It will certainly become my go-to-place for any questions that I have”.
Since the end of the initial testing phase, the forum has been offline while we make adaptations based on the feedback provided and undertake final security testing.
This week KPF are presenting a poster on the Forum at the annual British Burns Association Conference. This presentation will make burn care professionals aware that they can refer patients to the KPF online peer support forum, ensuring that as many people as possible can benefit from this project.
We plan to launch Stage 2 of the pilot soon - please watch this space!
