We are very happy to report that we have delivered three more houses since our last report. This means that these three families will stop paying a monthly rate for an unsafe shelter and will now live in a concrete house with adequate specifications. This means a lot for children as now they will have better conditions for studying and getting a better nutrition, two fundamental aspects in their transit to leaving extreme poverty. These constructions took place in Ciudad Bolivar, a very extensive area in the vicinity of the city of Bogota, with a population of some 800.000 people where families have been affected by forced displacement from their original homes and living conditions are extremely poor.
In all cases we request the families to take responsibility (with our help and guidance) for the preparation of the terrain and construction of the foundation plate. This task is usually very demanding given the rough topography of the area, but it is a significant first step that demonstrates the family commitment to proceed further in the process.
Thanks to all our donors and supporters, we are in good shape to continue our effort into 2023. One full house with the associated logistics can be built with USD 2500. Our volunteers build the house in a one-day session which usually ends up being an unforgettable experience.
We pledge to manage the resources we get from your donations under strict ethical directions and aiming to maximize our positive impact in these communities in need.
