ROLDA operates in one of the poorest regions of Romania. House pets, working animals and around 200.000 strays are exposed daily to risks such as starvation, disease, death or abandonment. With a multi-functional center such as PawzUp, ROLDA can offer refuge to hundreds more stray animals, including abandoned and abused working animals such as donkeys and horses. The PawzUp Center will also assist thousands of impoverished pet owners and offer pet therapy to the elderly.
Imagine an are of 27158 km2 (about half the size of Switzerland) This huge area totally lacks veterinary clinics and modern sheltering facilities for animals, meaning that there is no place for local folks to treat their pets or adopt a new furry family member. Infections and diseases are a real threat which we aim to eliminate.
ROLDA's PawzUp Center will include: A. Shelter (dogs and cats) There are an estimated 200,000 stray animals in Galati, Romania who are still in desperate need of rescuing. B. Pet Therapy Pet therapy for the elderly is a popular method of mild therapy for senior citizens. C. Shelter (horses and donkeys) Hundreds of horses and donkeys in Galati are abandoned after a lifetime of being working animals. PawzUp will offer refuge to these animals so they can spend their twilight years in peace.
WE WANT THE PAWZUP CENTER TO BRING PEOPLE AND ANIMALS TOGETHER Whether you are interested in adopting a rescue dog or cat, or you just want to spend a few hours interacting with our animals, ROLDA wants you to have a pleasant experience. The PawzUp Center is the complete opposite of the overcrowded public pounds in Romania that are infamous for their mistreatment of the animals they incarcerate. The PawzUp Center will create jobs and volunteer positions for responsible people who love animals.
