Patorun Team Supports Emergency Rescue at Katsushika Fureai RUN Festa
On March 9, during the “Katsushika Fureai RUN Festa” held in Tokyo, 22 members of the Patorun team participated as emergency support runners. During the event, they successfully performed life-saving measures on a collapsed runner, ultimately saving his life.
Details of the Incident:
At around 11:20 a.m., a runner collapsed approximately 200 meters before the finish line. Mr. Shirasawa, a Patorun member nearby, found the runner in cardiac arrest and immediately began CPR. Simultaneously, Mr. Usutani called emergency services (119), and high school member Mr. Uehara retrieved an AED from the medical tent and brought it to the scene.
Firefighters from the event’s medical unit soon arrived, took over the rescue, and used the AED to administer a shock. The runner’s heartbeat was restored, and within a few minutes, he regained consciousness. He was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance. Although a few days of hospitalization were required, his life is no longer in danger, and he is reportedly recovering well.
The local Honda Fire Station expressed gratitude for the Patorun team’s swift and effective response.
