Over the past quarter, a sewing workshop was set up and established at the Las Rosas Social Enterprise for Women Artisans (ESMAS), by reinforcing previous skills and strengthening their production capabilities. During this phase, the training focused on strengthening technical knowledge to improve the quality of their artisanal clothes and textile production, as well as on promoting greater autonomy in their production processes.
The course has provided a significant opportunity for the artisans of Las Rosas to further professionalize their craft by learning specialized techniques in production, finishing, process optimization, and the use of raw materials. These advancements allow them to diversify their product offerings and better meet market demands, thereby increasing their marketing opportunities and ability to generate their own income.
Furthermore, strengthening these technical skills has a direct impact on the economic empowerment of the participants by providing them with practical tools that enhance their economic independence, their participation in decision-making, and the growth of productive capacity within the social enterprise. The continuity of this training process underscores the importance of investing in the productive development of indigenous women as an opportunity to promote equal opportunities.
As a testimony to this process, one of the participants shared:
“Through this course, we’ve learned to sew better and make higher-quality products. Now we see more opportunities to sell our work and earn an income to support our families. We’re also happy to keep learning and growing together as a group.”
