Thank you for your continued support for our project in Nepal!
We are gradually progressing with the preparations to send the temporary housing unit.
Our partner Japan Institute of Architects (JIA) has appointed Mr. Gakushi Takahashi of architecture office gif based in Koriyama, Fukushima to be the architect in charge of this project in the designing phase.
To ship a building to another country, we are faced with many challenges and is not simply packing and shipping it away. Many small adjustments must be made to fit all the parts in the shipping container, and meet the building code, culture and skill levels of that area. We have been holding several meetings to discuss the changes in its design, and have received preliminary drawings.
We are currently negotiating with the National Reconstruction Agency for them to approve importing the unit and building it at the site.
Once we have the official approval from them, we will finally start the shipping process!
