Report of the Passarim Project
June 2017
This month of June, it was time for the students of the Passarim Project to show what they learned in the first half of 2017, and presentations were held in all units.
On June 1 the groups of the Casa de Cultura gave a presentation in the form of an open class, in which the teachers explained the method and routine of our work between songs. We received on that day the visit of students of the Ana Rosa Institute. It was approximately 40 young men in the morning and 70 young men in the afternoon, who in most cases saw an orchestral string instrument being played live for the first time. This day was chosen because of the commemoration of the 25 years of existence of the House of Culture of Butantã, and Passarim was present as one of the main activities that take place there.
On June 3, during the June party of the Gracinha Center, the string students of that unit played the songs of the bull celebration once again, giving a special coloring to this traditional ritual of Brazilian popular culture.
On June 8, it was the turn of CEU Uirapuru violin students, who played their instruments in a group for a loving audience of parents and relatives. Finally, on June 24, the Passarim choir performed at an important school in the neighborhood of Itaim Bibi, for an audience of future students and their parents. It is magical to see the reaction of the children when other children come doing something as beautiful and moving as singing or playing an instrument. A gift for anyone who plays or sings and who watches.
And we have reached the end of yet another period, and we continue to count on the help of our supporters around the world.
