Build the First Orthodox Theology School

By Goerge Constantin | Founder

Build the First Classroom for Africa’s Orthodox Theology School

Summary

In Accra, Ghana, future clergy and youth leaders lack access to local Orthodox theological education. Many must travel abroad or abandon their calling due to financial and institutional barriers.

The Constantine African Foundation, in partnership with the Orthodox Archdiocese of Accra, is launching Phase I of the Pantainos School of Orthodox Theology, beginning with the construction of the first classroom block inside the Cathedral compound.

This initial $45,000 phase funds site preparation and structural foundation work, allowing construction to begin immediately. Every gift helps lay the physical foundation for Africa’s first integrated Orthodox educational campus.

The Challenge

Across West Africa, Orthodox theological formation opportunities are extremely limited. Candidates for priesthood and church leadership often depend on foreign institutions, leading to:

  • Shortage of locally trained clergy

  • High training costs abroad

  • Loss of contextual theological development

Without a local training center, future leaders face barriers that weaken community continuity.

The Solution; Phase I Activation

We are launching construction in structured phases.

Phase I Goal: $45,000

This phase covers:

  • Site preparation and drainage

  • Foundation and reinforced concrete frame

  • Structural base for upper classroom level

Construction will begin once Phase I is fully funded. Subsequent phases will complete roofing, interior finishing, dormitories, and library space.

By funding the foundation first, donors directly unlock physical progress.

Donation Impact

$25 – Buys construction materials (cement & reinforcement bars)
$75 – Sponsors one square meter of foundation work
$250 – Funds classroom structural beams
$1,000 – Supports major structural reinforcement
$5,000 – Sponsors a section of the academic floor

Every contribution builds measurable, visible progress.

Sustainability

  • Land is church-owned (no land cost).

  • Water and electricity are provided by the Archdiocese.

  • Future operational costs will be supported through modest tuition for general courses and parish contributions.

  • Clergy formation remains tuition-free to ensure inclusion.

Long-Term Vision

Once fully completed, the Pantainos School will:

  • Train 40+ theology students annually

  • Provide dormitory housing

  • Strengthen African Orthodox scholarship

  • Create local employment

But it begins with one foundation.
