A JOURNEY WITH FREINDS FROM HOSPICE

Christine is a 24 year old Female Ugandan leaving with a single mother, with two siblings both boys, father died when she was 12 years of age.

She has been leaving and cared for in a Church in Kinaawa one of the suburbs of Kampala the Capaital City of Uganda 15.2KM off Hospice offices.

Christine has Osteo Sacorma (cancer of the born), she has been on palliative care with Hospice since January 2018, when she left her home village Mbirizi Masaka 163.7KM to Kampala to try and get better medication for the disease.

Hospice Africa Uganda through its home based treatment approach (Bringing Palliative Care Closer to Communities) has been giving regular medical checkups and medication to Chrstine, offering couseling to her and the church members who have been taking care of her, and also giving support interms of food items like flour, sugar, rice and cooking oil to foster a healthy leaving to the patient.

At the start of June 2024 during a home visit from Hospice, Christine requested that she be taken back to her home village to meet her farmily after years of not being with them. A team from Hospice (Palliative care nurse, a social woker and driver) saw that this wish is granted to Christine and she was deliverd back to her home village in Masaka.

In the images attached, a team from Hospice helping carry Christine on Her bed to be transported to her home village where she is currently leaving.
