It was 26 July 2022 when Al-Mustafa's disaster recovery team first reached the flood-affected site, the City of Uthal in Balochistan. This city is located in the Lasbella District, one of the most highly affected areas by the flood.
At this time, our priority is to reach out to the highly affected and difficult-to-reach remote areas and provide immediate relief in whatever form is required for the victims.
Survey and Planning
At Al-Mustafa, we believe in intelligent utilization and allocation of resources and try our best to reach beneficiaries with what's needed most at the site. It is part of our disaster management strategy always to have a pre-assessment of the affected area and bring necessary supplies before the rescue and relief operations begin. The pre-assessment was done from reports by the local administration, media reports and, in many instances, by Al-Mustafa's regional network of volunteers.
After assessing the community, purchases were made immediately, and the first team of volunteers, along with rescue, food and medical supplies, reached the flooded site. Pakistan Navy also closely connected with Al-Mustafa's administration and collaborated with our team to provide rescue and relief in the disaster-stricken area. As the flood started to travel more profound in the region, more teams with more supplies were sent to the affected sites for rescue and relief operations.
