This year it rained 500% more since the last 30 years, piling miseries in Balochistan and Sindh, with the death toll rising every day. These massive rains have hit areas with the highest poverty rates in the country, washing away entire homes, roads, and bridges. Al-Mustafa is rescuing the victims trapped in water & supporting them with tents, food, ration, safe water, medical aid, passenger boats, etc. Your donation will help us to save and rehabilitate thousands of families stuck in the water.
According to the reports of N.D.M.A. published on 23 August 2022, the massive floods in Pakistan have already claimed 830 lives, including 313 children and 180 women. More than 400,000 houses are destroyed, and around 750,000 livestock is also reported dead. The deadly rains have destroyed 129 bridges and washed away 2887 km of roads, making it harder to reach the victims. The situation will worsen in the coming days as very high to exceptionally high flood alerts have been given.
Al-Mustafa's Disaster Relief Team is involved in rescue and relief activities with Pakistan Army and Pakistan Navy. Thousands of people entrapped in the water are rescued through helicopters and boats and taken to safer areas. We are distributing tents, cooked food, ration and cash among the victims and our doctors and paramedical staff are giving medical aid to the victims.
These deadly rains have also economically destroyed the affected areas and populations, killed livestock, and crippled transportation and commerce by flushing roads and destroying bridges. Recovery will be a long road for families who have lost everything. Al-Mustafa also plans to rehabilitate the victims by supporting them economically, buidling their homes, repairing/reconstructing destroyed local infrastructure, including schools, healthcare centres etc.
