Since 2023, the war in Sudan has claimed thousands of lives. Millions of women and girls are at immediate risk of sexual violence, with their bodies being used as deliberate targets of war. Countless of women and girls have also been displaced from their homes and many struggle to meet basic needs. Running water, electricity, and medical services/products are often unavailable. Further Sudanese civilians, particularly women and children, are not receiving sufficient humanitarian aid to confront
In this context of extreme scarcity and collapsed services, women and girls who are victims of violence not only face hunger but heightened risks-including life-threatening infections due to lack of menstrual products, clean water, and medical care. Access to basic hygiene and hot meals are not only a necessity but a matter of dignity, safety and collective resilience.
In Sudan, women are leading response at the frontline - keeping community kitchens running, preparing meals for thousands, with almost nothing. Your contributions will go towards these kitchens, which are critical lifelines for children, the elderly, people with disabilities and pregnant women. Access to menstrual hygiene also remains imperative. Your help will ensure that women and girls get the menstrual hygiene products they need, upholding their overall health, self-esteem and well-being.
Providing women and girls with the means to address their menstrual health with dignity during the war will increase positive impact on long-term dignity and confidence. Providing women with the means to keep community kitchens going will ensure displaced women and children receive the nourishment they desperately need. Together, access to both menstrual hygiene and regular hot meals will strengthen the resilience, health, and agency of women and girls in Sudan.
