Double Your Gift This July Bonus Day

In Catia La Mar, La Guaira state, a woman walks past a building that collapsed a week earlier. Twin earthquakes struck Venezuela's coast on 24 June, thirty-nine seconds apart, and this stretch of coastline was among the hardest hit. Rescue teams have concentrated their search here, while in other neighbourhoods nearby, families and community groups are searching the rubble on their own, for missing people and for whatever belongings can still be recovered.

At present, at least 3,685 people have died, nearly 17,000 more were injured, and almost 18,000 have lost their homes. Oxfam is working alongside local partners to deliver clean water, sanitation, food, and psychosocial support to affected communities.

This is what your support to Oxfam Great Britain through GlobalGiving makes possible. Thank you for standing with us, in Venezuela and around the world, working with partners to support communities.

We seek to champion the same principle everywhere we work, where communities and local organisations lead, and we back them. Oxfam GB and our partners supported 9.21 million people to fight poverty and build a more resilient world in 2024/25, shifting power and resources to the organisations within impacted communities.

The funding landscape behind this work is shifting. Governments across the G7 are reducing aid budgets this year, and the UK's own commitment is falling from 0.5 percent of national income to 0.3 percent by 2027. Oxfam still receives meaningful support from institutional donors around the world, but as that support changes shape, community funded gifts like yours carry more weight than they used to, especially in fast moving emergencies where flexible funding can move in hours rather than months.

On July 15th, GlobalGiving is running July Bonus Day, a 24-hour campaign matching eligible gifts from a $150,000 fund, with an additional $9,000 in prizes for top performing projects. Give between $100 and $1,500, and your donation is proportionally matched on top of what you already give. A gift above $100 unlocks matching and counts toward the totals that decide how much of the fund reaches Oxfam.

Thank you for your support to Oxfam Great Britain. When emergencies strike, your generosity lets us respond quickly, back the people who know their communities best, and keep showing up long after the headlines move on.
