Thanks to you, Orkeeswa School's 2019 End of Year Campaign was fully funded! We are so appreciative of our dedicated supporters like you. Thank you for helping us to make an impact on hundreds of students in rural Tanzania.
One of the students you are making an impact on is Orkeeswa School student, Catherine. Catherine's father arranged for her to be married at the age of 9 years old. Knowing the value of education and seeing potential in her, Catherine's uncle brought her to live with him in a nearby village, determined to take her to school.
Having avoided child marriage, at Orkeeswa Catherine has grown into a confident, strong leader on campus and in her community. This year, Catherine represented Tanzania at the FIBA African U16 Basketball Championship in Rwanda and was the only player selected to represent Tanzania at an NBA Africa Academy camp in Senegal.
"In Life Skills, I learned about having a growth mindset. Growth mindset people are open to new ideas and change. They are positive! I am on the National Basketball Team, so I use a growth mindset when I tell my teammates before every game, 'Don't worry! We will win!" -Catherine, 9th grade-
Thank you for being part of Catherine's story by investing in her impact as a leader, and that of her peers at Orkeeswa.
