About the Project
The course aims to provide students with basic knowledge of bowed string instruments, which include the violin, viola, and cello. Additionally, the active method is applied, establishing the first contact between the student and the instrument, initiating the musical learning process.
Objectives:
Orchestra Rehearsals and Performance Preparation
In recent months, the orchestra students have dedicated themselves intensively to rehearsals for a special performance at the Space Symposium Science Days.
Science Days is an annual science and technology event organized by the Alpha Lumen Institute in partnership with the Michaelis Foundation for Global Education. Aimed at elementary and high school students, the event seeks to create educational opportunities and raise awareness about the importance of the aerospace industry and its impact on the economy.
Inspired by Florida’s Space Day, Science Days aims to foster entrepreneurship and highlight startups among young university students, encouraging initiatives in science and technology.
Over its editions, Science Days has stood out for attracting a growing number of participants interested in science and technology, providing a platform for students to explore new frontiers in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Preparation for the Performance
Rehearsals were structured to enhance technical skills and musical interpretation, covering the following exercises:
Continuation of Group Lessons
The teaching methodology was structured to offer effective and progressive learning. Activities were organized into groups of 6 to 15 participants, divided into beginner and intermediate levels. This approach allowed for a more personalized learning experience, meeting the specific needs and pace of each student.
Technical Fundamentals
At the beginning of each lesson, students practiced essential exercises for mastering the instrument, such as scales, open strings, and bowing techniques. These activities helped develop motor coordination, precision, and consistent sound production.
Advanced Techniques
In the second phase, students progressed to more advanced techniques, adjusted to their skill level. The focus was on improving sound quality and musical expressiveness.
Musical Repertoire
Finally, the last part of the lesson was dedicated to repertoire practice. Students had the opportunity to apply previously learned techniques, working on interpretation, expressiveness, and artistic development across different musical styles.
