Meet Rumbi-One Young Person at a Time

By Spiwe Chakawa | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Partners

Rumbi sat for her Ordinary Level examinations in 2023 and passed 3 subjects. After completing school, she remained at home with no clear opportunities for further education or employment. Her situation changed when she heard about Chiedza’s Vocational Skills Training Programme through a community volunteer working with Chiedza. Following an assessment, Praise was enrolled into the Tailoring course in 2025. During her training, Chiedza supported her with learning materials and meals from the centre kitchen, which eased her learning journey and allowed her to focus on acquiring practical skills.

In her own words, she shared: “…I was helped with learning materials and food at the Kitchen….” As part of her training, Praise was placed on industrial attachment where she gained hands-on experience in operating specialised machines such as the embroidery machine, floss machine, and fusing machine. She also developed practical tailoring skills and can now sew work suits, school uniforms, and other garments. In addition, she strengthened her customer care skills, which enhanced her professionalism in the workplace.

Thank ýou to those who have made this possible for Rumbi. Our call is that, there are so many Rumbis out there, one young person at a time, and life can be changed.

Let's partner together and make the world a reality for the young people struggling to enter into the employment sector.
