The One Million Leaders (OML) project is an initiative by NELIS – Next Leaders’ Initiative for Sustainability, aiming to inspire, connect and empower one million next-generation leaders and social innovators in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and MENA (Middle East & North Africa) regions by 2030.

The enthusiasm for our initiatives is evident, 17,059 registrations from around 107 countries were received for the OML Fellowship 2024 cohort; 7600 valid applications of them were screened and we are choosing around 500 fellows for 2024. They will engage up to 10,000 Champions in the process - and these teams will work with many other thousands of people in their communities to create the least of 100 sustainable projects that will solve major and urgent problems in their communities!

This year, OML MENA  (Middle East and North Africa) has chosen 31 next-gen leaders from across the region for the eight-month fellowship. While empowering themselves, they will also engage more than 500 Champions across their countries and communities.

In Latin America, we chose 55 fellows from 10 countries for the 2024 OMLATAM Fellowship; a tripling of fellows and doubling of the number of countries in 2023. Together, in their eight-month leadership & project journey, they will engage around 1000 Champions and many regional actors and beneficiaries!

In Asia, 175 fellows were chosen from 24 Asian countries.  This is about seven times as many as OMLAS invited to the Fellowship in 2023.

While in Africa, 200 Fellows will be chosen across 40 African countries, the selection process is still ongoing due to the large number of applications received (6000+).

With the second tier (“champions”) AND the program, we call OML Lite (seven sessions only for the applicants who were NOT chosen), it looks like we will be training around 10,000 people this year from around 100 countries.

If you want to know WHERE a better future will come from, look to One Million Leaders, a project which is "hope in action". We engage the most exciting young leaders & aspiring changemakers on Earth! We are raising USD 50,000 to support 400 fellows (who will be engaging around 10,000 “champions” (second tier)) and sponsor the implementation of 125 community projects in the 2024 fellowship. The project budget focuses majorly on supporting the following activities:

  Support for each Fellow’s/Champion’s training

Implementation of Community-change Project funding (125 community projects!)

Join us in this critical mission to empower young leaders and build stronger communities around the world. Every contribution, regardless of size, brings us closer to achieving our shared vision.
