Why a Winter Coat Changes Everything in Aleppo

Dear Friends,
As winter temperatures begin to take hold in Aleppo, the reality for displaced families living in damaged buildings is devastating. With zero insulation or heating at home, the cold is a constant, biting presence. For many children, coping with the elements meant wearing worn-out, poor-quality sweaters, or sharing a single piece of warm clothing with multiple siblings.
But thanks to our first 5 incredible donors, we have already successfully distributed high-quality winter coats to 70 children!
The transformation is immediate. With a proper coat, these children are staying healthier and protected from hypothermia and respiratory illnesses. Tragically, due to extreme poverty, many minors are now the sole breadwinners for their families and must work. Whether they are heading out to a cold workplace or walking to an unheated classroom, this coat gives them the protection and dignity they desperately need.
Education remains our biggest priority, and a coat is a vital key to keeping children in school. This is especially true for young girls; one of the main reasons girls are kept home from school during the winter months is simply because they lack suitable, dignified clothing to face the elements. Furthermore, because homes have no heating, children wear these coats inside the house just to stay warm.
To maximize your impact, we are purchasing these high-quality jackets locally from a tailor workshop in Aleppo that employs displaced women and pays them fair wages. By donating, you are not only protecting a child, but you are also supporting vulnerable women working to rebuild their lives.
Due to rising inflation, the cost of living has skyrocketed, and a durable, high-quality jacket now costs €35. We refuse to buy cheaper alternatives that fall apart in weeks. A €35 jacket is built to last, meaning it can eventually be passed down to younger siblings and neighbors, multiplying the impact of your gift.
We are €2,537 away from our goal to protect 200 waiting children this winter. With the worst of the cold still ahead, your support is urgently needed. How you can take action today:
