OIMC: International Mathematics and Knowledge Olympiad
From July 15 to 18, the Instituto Alpha Lumen, in partnership with various institutions, held a transformative technological immersion that brought together around 600 medal-winning students from the Brazilian Technology Olympiad (OBT), the International Mathematics and Knowledge Olympiad (OIMC), and the Brazilian Social Entrepreneurship Olympiad (OBES).
Participants from 16 Brazilian states, representing both public and private schools, experienced days of intense learning, innovation, and exchange of ideas.
Among the highlights was the “Best Gold OIMC 2024” team, composed of six students and one teacher from the Application School of the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES – Serra). The team represented the city of Serra, Espírito Santo, with excellence, showcasing the transformative power of scientific and collaborative education.
The 5th edition of the OIMC, to be held between late October and early November 2025, is organized by the Instituto Alpha Lumen and brings together students from across Brazil and Portuguese-speaking countries. The initiative aims to foster interest in mathematics, logical reasoning, and collaborative learning.
The Olympiad encourages the study of mathematics, improves teaching and learning processes, promotes the use of the internet as an educational tool, and strengthens teamwork.
Students from the 4th year of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school can participate, organized into four groups (G1–G4) and three categories: public non-selective, private, and selective/technical/military/federal schools.
1st Phase – Online and Multidisciplinary Tests: Conducted in teams, covering mathematics and general knowledge through six thematic rounds, including Geography, History, Science, Current Events, Nerd Culture, and Arts.
2nd Phase – Supervised Tests and Awards Ceremony: Focused on mathematics teams, conducted under teacher supervision, determining the final ranking and award-winning teams.
Your support helps young people discover their potential through the International Mathematics and Knowledge Olympiad.
By transforming learning into collaboration, creativity, and confidence, we are shaping a generation that values science — and believes in its power to change the world.
