OIUSA/Canada Is Set To Go!

By Eric Welle | Project Leader

OIUSA/Canada's Medical Team is all set to go to Nigeria for her 2023 biennial Medical and Surgical Mission, and this year FREE Medical & Surgical Mission will be at the Ndele Health Center in Rundele, Emohua Local Government area of Rivers State, Nigeria, from October 9th to 13th, 2023.

Emohua is a Local Government area in Rivers State, Nigeria, comprising eight villages or communities.  The primary occupations of the majority of the people are Farming, Fishing, and Sand Dredging.  Rundele is one of the communities in the Emohua Local Government Area, where the OIUSA/Canada team saw the need to help the less privileged address their nagging health problems, helping them become more productive, able to feed their families, and positively affect the community.

The team has assembled Health Providers to address patients' needs in the following areas;

1.  Eye Team - Optometry and Ophthalmology, to provide FREE Ophthalmic Services during the 5-Day Mission.  The goal is to see 2,000 patients and provide up to 1,000 glasses.

2.  Surgery Team -To evaluate up to 2000 patients for various ailments, including Herniorrhaphy, Appendectomy, Lipoma, Ganlion, etc.

3.  Dental Services - The team is prepared to see up to 3,000 patients, doing a number of procedures, including Dental extraction, Minor surgery, Dental washing, etc.

4. General Practitioners - The team of providers intends to evaluate and treat more than 5,000 patients during the 5-day Medical Mission.

5.  Pharmacy - The pharmacy team is set with all the medications needed for the Medical Mission, including donations from Americares for humanitarian relief.

The team looks forward to a successful Mission and will give a comprehensive report after they return.
