Hi all donors of this wonderfull project!
We want to report on the TreeGivingDay, that we had on march 08 2024 in Oldonyong'iro village.
With the donations of you and Projectburo De Laat (thats me ;-) ) Pendaeli and his team were able to buy 4,100 seedlings of Silky Oak, the strongest tree species I've heard for this region. There was set a date and a place to distribute the trees, so the Village Office was used and farmers were invited to come to get the trees.
Here is the report of that day from Pendaeli:
As you can see from the lists, we targetted about two hundred farmers only where each to receive 20 trees seedlings,
But more numbers showed up and we reduced the number of trees to each farmers to 10 but again number increased and we reduced to 5 trees per farmers. Few where missed the trees but hope in the future when we go to their place we will consider them.
So,
157 farmers received 20 trees each
34 farmers received 10 trees each
58 farmers received 5 trees each
Leaders of the village who volunteered the tree distribution excersixes where 11 people and each received 30 trees each. These are the people who become our enviromental conservation committee that will help to work closely with farmers to make sure trees are cared well.
With this first report we want to show you how good organised this work is done by Pendaeli and his Destiny Hope Foundation team. Because there is a group that will monitor the planted trees, the number of dying trees will be lower and for next planting season they can make a list of people who need replacements or new ones.
The aim is to plant some more trees in this village, but people from the neighbour Marue Village came to visit at our TreeGivingDay and ask if there would be trees for their village too. So more villages in that area may hopefully receive also trees in the future, so more projects can be start to build the local community.
Hope you enjoyed reading this report and seeing that your donation is allready making impact on hundreds of lives in this region.
Regards Peter de Laat
