This project at Fundacion Triada, Quito-Tumbaco, Ecuador, will create a model apartment simulating living quarters, where patients with neurological disabilities will experience and train for an autonomous life by learning how to carry out daily activities such as preparing a meal, eating, making a bed, bathing and getting dressed by themselves. The project will benefit 60 to 80 patients and their families.
Thirteen percent (13%) of the population of Ecuador experience a disability in a country where there are no specialized quality facilities, either public or private, to serve those patients. Living with a disability, especially a neurological one, makes a person completely dependent on others for their whole life. The problem is even more severe for low-income families.
This project, the first of its kind in Ecuador, will teach patients how to manage their daily activities, such as getting out of bed, getting dressed, eating, brushing their teeth, etc. independently; thus creating self-esteem, alleviating the caretakers and strengthening the family unit.
The vision of Fundacion Triada is to serve 200 patients with neurological disabilities by the end of the year 2020. Will you help us achieve this goal?
