This project seeks to build composting toilets for 30 families to help them save water during the water crisis. The current water situation is critical, and families that live in the semiurban part of Oaxaca city sometimes have to go without water for days or weeks when it's unavailable. That's why we aim to assist these families with 30 composting toilets.
Oaxaca city is facing a water crisis, with access to water decreasing rapidly. Normally, residents receive water every 25 to 30 days, but when it's unavailable, they're forced to purchase expensive water. In recent weeks, the situation has worsened, with families in Oaxaca receiving water only every 40 days. Part of the problem is the outdated water system, which urgently needs maintenance. Currently, there is no solution in sight.
The program would help install 30 composting toilets in homes in the urban and semi-urban parts of the city of Oaxaca. The project aims to reduce water usage in the city. Additionally, it will provide assistance to install the toilets and educate residents on their correct usage.
Through the use of the toilet, the average person could save 39,872 liters of water annualy. Additionally, users would save money and contribute to combating the water crisis. The saved water can be used to water plants that produce fruits or vegetables.
